Fender Guitars, Cakepops and Markets.....

A Fender Esquire

Last week it was Peter's birthday and with him being as mad about guitars as I am about horses I thought it only fitting that I had a go at making his pride and joy into a cake.  It is only the second 'novelty' cake I have ever made and by far the most complicated and fiddly but it was worth every minute of it to see his face on Wednesday morning!!!  Onto facebook it went and off round the globe to all the guitar 'gods' and it got 239 likes before the end of the day!!!  Needless to say we are still eating it!  Good job it tastes as good as it looks!!!!

So what to do with the left over cake after the guitar was made......I thought I would have a go at some cake pops.....also a first for me.  I'm not sure I would want to make a lot of them but the kids loved them at Dolphinholme Market on Saturday so maybe I'll bear that in mind.

Dolphinholme Market was a success with a lot of stalls from bric a brac to cupcakes to sketches and also a pig stall with quails eggs and honey but no pork......yep I do have to say I thought that was odd!!!  The pork will be available in Feburary so orders were being taken.  It was a shame though as I thought we could have sausage sandwiches on Sunday.... :(  Roll on the next one :)

My website is changing all the time so please take a look and let me know what you think :) www.jeniscupcakes.co.uk

Birthdays, BBQ's and Open Days........

So last week was a busy cake week for me and I baked 200 cakes to take to Ribby Hall Equestrian Centre Open Day on Sunday (see above), the weather was good to us and loads of people turned up to watch the demonstrations provided by the staff and others from Ribby Hall EC.  The cakes went down a treat and we only had one cake left by the end of the day!  I did a raffle for a giant cupcake and this was won by a very excited lady!!!

The above are just a few of the many cakes we took with us.

This week I have been busy baking for my friends for their trips away, birthdays and BBQ's.

I have been busy setting up my new website www.jeniscupcakes.co.uk.  Please take a look and let me know what you think.  I'm open to any suggestions.

I've got my eye on you!!!
 A witches hat.....not mine though!!!!

 Not a real one.......honest!

and Incy Wincy to finish off!

Austin Healey and not a car crash!!!

The Austin Healey Cake

This Austin Healey cake was my first attempt at any sort of decorated cake and was made for a friends birthday.  I was not really sure what it would turn out like but I impressed myself and certainly Peter who I think thought he'd come home to more of a car crash than the above!!!

I learnt a lot whilst making this cake and one of the most annoying things was that I couldn't find silver icing anywhere so I had to paint all the silver bits with edible paint.  So if anyone out there knows where to buy it please let me know.

I'm back to baking cupcakes today ready for Chipping Show at the weekend.  If you are planning on a day out please pop in and see me. :)

Hi everyone

Hey there welcome to my new blog.   Talking about cakes is a bit on the new side still for me and those of you that know me know that my life has mainly been horses up until now.  But I am heading in a new direction and loving every minute of my new venture....cupcake baking.   Jeni's Cupcakes have been approved by the local council and are now supplying people in and around Lancashire with home made delights!
Please see my website or join us on facebook to see more pictures of my lovely cakes.  I will be posting them all on here in time.
